Part 2: Forgiveness Is a Process – How to Let Go and Move Forward

In Part 1 of this series, we explored the idea that forgiveness is a gift we give ourselves—a path to inner peace, not an approval of past wrongs. We also acknowledged that forgiveness is a process, one that unfolds over time and leads to deep personal freedom.

So how do we begin?

1. Acknowledge the Hurt—Without Judgment

Begin by simply being honest with yourself about the pain you’ve experienced. Avoid minimizing it or pretending it doesn’t matter. Forgiveness is not denial—it’s about acknowledging what did happen and choosing not to be imprisoned by it any longer.

2. Understand That Forgiveness Is for You

Many of us hold back from forgiving because we believe the other person doesn’t deserve it. But here’s the truth: forgiveness isn’t about them—it’s about your healing. You are not saying what they did was right. You are choosing your peace over your pain.

3. Practice Letting Go in Layers

Forgiveness rarely happens all at once. Instead, it comes in waves. One day you may feel more free, and the next, old emotions may return. Be gentle with yourself. Letting go is not weakness—it’s a sign of your strength and growing self-awareness.

4. Find Meaning in the Experience

Sometimes, our greatest growth comes from our greatest challenges. Ask yourself:

  • What have I learned from this?
  • How has it shaped me—for the better?
  • Is there wisdom I can carry forward?

When we find meaning in our pain, we transform it. We rise above it—not in bitterness, but in wisdom.

5. Use Tools for Support

If you’re ready to take practical steps toward forgiveness, I invite you to explore my YouTube videos that guide you through reflections, meditations, and self-awareness practices. These tools are designed to help you create emotional balance and reclaim your inner peace.

Forgiveness Creates Space for Joy

When you forgive, you make room for new experiences, deeper relationships, and a lighter heart. You no longer carry the weight of old wounds into your future.

As we continue through this holiday season and into the New Year, may you give yourself the most powerful gift of all: the freedom that comes through forgiveness.

To all of you walking this path of healing and growth, I wish you peace, courage, and joy.
Happy holidays.
